Yurts – Jan. 31, 2024

Another beautiful day out in the wilderness! So what do I do? Open my yurt roof and readjust the canvas of course….

This was only done though because of the divet I mentioned earlier in the roof from the way I had setup the rafters. All of that has been fixed now, and the outer canvas has been shifted so it sits properly atop the frame. I even gave the yurt a “hair cut”.

Beyond that, I had to rebuild the roof over the door. Naturally, I chose to overachieve and redo the stairs as well. I now have a mud room!

The steps are quite a bit wider and deeper than the old steps. Definitely more solid. I used a few skids under the steps to help raise them up and to stabilize everything better. Works like a charm!

Here is the finished room.

I’m just missing a small porch light inside and a doorbell… ha!

I’m really quite pleased with the way this has all turned out.

The other part(kind of minor, that got done today was the vent inside the yurt was finally finished because my neighbor Dale stopped by to give me a hand.

Doesn’t look like much, but it seems to be working. We’ll know better just how well it works when the temperature starts to drop once more. It does have a flap inside the I can close manually which is nice if I feel it’s letting out too much hot air.

Thanks for tuning in! I love you all.
