As usual, my mother seems to have the desire to spoil me continually. While I appreciate it, sometimes she can overdue it. I think she may have done that here, but regardless, I am grateful for what she has chosen to do!
My mother bought me an “early Birthday Gift”. The key now is to make sure she doesn’t buy me anything on my actual birthday….
My mother, God bless her, bought me a wood fired cooktop stove… Used, but oh so beautiful! I am absolutely thrilled to work on it and get it cleaned up and inside!
This unit is complete, with all doors, latches etc. a bit rusty, but as I said, gorgeous!
Initially I did a test run outside the Yurt to find all the “hotspots” on the stove and what kind of clearance I would need.
I have made new plans for inside the Yurt, for how I would place this whole price, without flipping my entire floor plan on its head.
It starts with trimming the countertop. I have reduced the length of it by 25 inches to allow for the cooktop to sit where the countertop was.
If any of you have been inside the Yurt prior to this addition, you would know the countertop stretched out towards the door, taking up a significant space. Having the cooktop in this spot has reduced my counter space on this end – however, I still have the folding counter on the other side in front of the store room door.
These “cupboards” underneath the countertop will eventually be covered with cupboard doors etc. for now though they are left open.
All setup inside, I have scrubbed down and removed most of the rust – leaving only a visually pleasing amount showing.
I am absolutely in love with how this beautiful piece of technology works! And I can’t wait to bake in it! I’ll be doing that this weekend!
Tha ka for tuning in! Until next time, I love you all!
