Wowsers… Just wow…
It’s now been 5-6 weeks of, “next week I’ll be able to get the yurt back up.. no no, next week”…
Challenge after challenge hit me. No doubt there was more than one time that I just wanted to give up and roll over. That was the old me though. Not anymore. But seriously, there was one day there where all I’ll say is I’m glad my dad was around to kick me out of bed ha!
Once again I am blessed to have such amazing neighbors, I needed help to get my Jeep pulled out of the swamp after I was lazy and didn’t want to walk around I thought I’d try driving around… Ya that didn’t go well ….
Today, my other neighbor Dale came over to give me and my dad a hand getting the canvas roof on! And finally with some wild finagling.. ha yes finagling; we got the entire yurt covered. So now I have the tyvek over the frame, the insulated tarp around the walls, 2x the insulated tarps on the roof, and then the canvas outer shell on top and on the walls.
What a process! But I’m glad it’s done. What started with the floor, ended up being the entire home!
The new lattice is incredibly strong. Based on the lattice from nomad yurts in Alaska; the 1.5″X7/8” lattice pieces have the durability and strength to withstand winds of up to 100km/hour, and weights of 60lbs/sq. Ft! To expand that math out, for this size of yurt, the lattice can support up to 19,800lbs!! That’s insane!
So here is the new interior of the Yurt,
I am so grateful that I’ve been able to come this far! Now it’s time to work on the interior! My mom has bought me all kinds of new flooring to put down. This is going to be so pretty!
Thanks for tuning in!
