My favorite part about living rural is that everyone out here has the same issues, weather, livestock, garden. So when something goes wrong chances are there’s someone close by that has had to deal with that same issue recently.
For me, it was getting stuck in the mud ha!
Thankfully my neighbor understood and came out to rescue me with the skid steer.
A few days later, my other neighbor had a butcher cancel on him to help with the pigs. So he contacted me knowing I have culinary experience and friends in butchery. We were able to come out and help cut up 2.5 pigs.
My good friend Sean, was able to help and is incredibly patient when it comes to teaching so when the neighbors were asking questions about how to get this cut or that he was able to teach.
We had a blast! And I was able to receive over 150lbs of meat, bones and trim!
It’s truly incredible how much is usable off a pig!
I am so grateful for my neighbors, and love to help out when I can! This is a true community.
